Moira Murphy is an Appalachian soprano, composer, and meditation practitioner living in the mountains of East Tennessee. She has toured internationally with operas, performed around the US with metal, rock, goth, indie, and jazz bands, worked as an actor at Dollywood, performed with orchestras, arranged ensemble pieces for repertory theatres, and stage directed opera.
Her 2024 debut solo album, 'A Trembling Flame,' is a classical ambient collection that centers around her arrangements of the chants of 12th century mystic Hildegard von Bingen. She has performed this repertoire in historic Basilicas, chapels, and cemeteries around the US.
